With over 30 years of experience, Dana’s Bakery is a must try. Located at 720 N Homewoood Ave. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, it’s a place that my parents have been going to for years. Do we live in the area? No, but to this day my father takes the monthly drive down for some traditional goodies.

Originally located in The Hill District, this tiny shop only accepts cash. Prices range from 65 cents to a couple of dollars depending on what you get. Besides the small fried cakes of sweetened dough, they also offer a variety of goodies such as brownies, cookies, cupcakes and tiered cakes. Their small brick building is surrounded by churches and a community college and F.Y.I. my father once told me Dana is the name of his daughter.
Well, with no disrespect to what I bake when home for the holidays, you can always count on my dad walking in with a box from Dana’s. Everyone gets so excited as we dive into the bakery box. We keep it simple with the usual glaze, but feel free to try other flavors and let me know what you think.
Absolutely, easily THE BEST IN THE BURGH!
