Breakfast at The Farmers Market

Have you ever been at The Grove – Farmers Market in the evening and wanted breakfast?  Well, go check out Charlie’s Coffee Shop located at The Grove in the Farmers Market area, far back towards the end, near the restrooms…west patio.  (T) and I are always looking for some sweet bread options and Charlie’s is what we found.

“OMG I want a pancake too.  I can’t sit here and watch you eat that,” I explained to (T).

She patiently waited while I put the orders in for the two of us.  And don’t get us wrong guys, you can order anything from breakfast served all day to burgers and fries.  We just prefer breakfast.

What I enjoy is that the food is cooked to order.  And if you come at a certain time during the season you can catch a small live band perform, while eating your food outside in the food court.   This (F.O.) spot has been apart of The Farmers Market for some time and you’ll continue to catch a relative behind the counter.  Sadly enough I did not order their french toast of which they’re known for.  Nonetheless, it gives me an excuse to return.

“Should we get another one?” The pathetic questions we dare to ask. Instead we slowly ate our yummy cakes and engaged in humorous conversation.  So again, if needing breakfast and near The Grove, hit up Charlie’s.

Oh and don’t forget to get your parking validated.

Chicken & Waffle Sandwiches

Eat waffles much?  Well there’s this place called Bruxie with 8 locations steaming from Las Vegas, NV, Los Angeles, CA to Seoul, Korea.  Known for their chicken and waffle sandwiches, they offer a variety of buttermilk waffles using all-natural, hormone-free chicken.

My first experience with them was in Las Vegas.  “What is that?” I asked.  A buddy of mine mentioned who they were.  Said everyone enjoyed it.  So I had to try it out for myself.

“<Hmm> oddly enough it just taste ok,” I said to myself.  “It’s not horrible, but I’ve had better”.  Wasn’t sure of the attention Bruxie was gathering.  Why?  Well, after eating waffles and chicken from Roscoe’s, it’s safe to say NOBODY has come close to their awesome chicken and waffle combination.  Theirs is so good I don’t really bother to get anyone else’s because I know I will be disappointed…and again I was.  Now, I’m not saying don’t go.  Please do!  I will always encourage everyone to try different places because you should never pass up opportunities to break bread with friends and family that may be a positive experience for you.

I personally would have wanted slightly more sweetness in the waffle, but not an overload.  The packaging and service were good and their facility was fine.  NO complaints in that department.

“Well, I’m glad you finally tried them out,” my buddy replied.

“Me too” I told him.

I may have to try them out again to deliver a part 2 to this experience.  Why not!

Have you tried them?

Those Pink & White stripes on Western Ave.

What I absolutely love about M’Dear’s Bakery & Bistro is the fact they place a napkin over your flatware – LOVE!  Can we all do this?  I got hip to this place years ago as an auction gift certificate item.  There are two locations, 7717 S. Western Ave. – Los Angeles and 2450 Carson St. – Lakewood.  I recently took my buddy the other day.  It was his first time.
