This Little Corner Place

LIKE there’s this little corner place called Grub Restaurant hidden in a residential Hollywood area.  AND LIKE I haaaaaaaad to check it out.  Their idea was to create a place that felt like home. Figures right!?!?

This spot is easily missed. Street parking if you’re lucky or valet of which I forgot the cost, sorry guys.  About this valet, a part of me felt bad for the guy who had to literally run around the block to get our car.  Then another part of me felt completely over it and just wanted to look for the car myself because it took that long and promised to not eat here if I can’t get my own parking spot. <sigh> Either way, it’s Hollywood people.  Just play the reminder in your head over and over that parking will ALWAYS SUCK!!!

So let’s get inside shall we.

Oh you would love it!  It offers photo moments in every corner.  Full of color, fresh greenery, wood, home, back yard, a welcoming calmness, you know all that good stuff.  I just had to snap a pic.  Super cute, easily missed in the cut, full of charm, was such a delight.  Grub Restaurant seems to be a spot clearly the locals know about.

Our waiter was great, got our order ready and I appreciated the veggie sticks and pretzels brought to the table 🙂  what a great touch!

So while the Eagle went with a simple sandwich and side salad, I ordered the Our Friggin’ Amazin’ French Toast which consist of 3 croissants coated with cinnamon vanilla batter and cooked to golden brown. Served with maple syrup, pecans and raspberry butter at a cost of $12.00.  I also ordered a side of their “Crack Bacon”.  Well, voted Citysearch’s best breakfast in LA, I’m personally not sure why.  The food wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t memorable.  Wait, I take that back.  IT WAS MEMORABLE, but in a negative.  The french toast was fine, not great, not bad and I will always appreciate flavored butters.  However, THAT BACON – YUCK!!! Now I LOVE bacon, I mean, LOVE IT!!!  But this crap taste like beef, pork, lunch meat, something…nasty.  Now if you want flavored bacon, try Saint Marc of whom I visited.  Now they had good and fun bacon flavors.

Would I go back here again?  NO, simply because of the parking and bacon.  I don’t want to wait around forever for my car and if I can’t have something salty with my starch then what’s the point.  Does this mean you will dislike it – no.  Pay them a visit for yourself, but you won’t see me there.
